We just came back from the demo in Athens. The cops were, once again, extremely provocative: Tens of tear gas cannisters and stun grenades were shot directly into the crowd. It seems like the newly ordered tear gas supply for the police is here.
People in Athens have been demonstrating and/or rioting for 13 consecutive days and nights.

Meanwhile, occupation of media outlets is spreading across the country: Today, the municipal radio of Tripoli, “Nea Tileorasi” TV in Chania, Politeia FM in Sparta and “Star FM” and “Imagine 897 FM” in Thessaloniki were occupied.
The “Labour Centre” (trade union building) of Patras was also occupied today, in protest against the sold-out leadership of the trade unions, demanding an indefinite general strike now.

I have a question, are those occupying trade union buildings members of those unions?
I have one too: are the radio stations occupied “permanently” or just for a short period of time?
@Frej:
Some occupations last about 10 mins. or more so that the protestors broadcast their messages, then management has been killing the signal (the state-run TV occupation that cut-off a speech by the PM). In other cases, the stations are fully controlled by the occupiers.
I hope you guys can win this thing. The rest of the world is being flushed down the toilet due to mismanagement, though not to the extent that Greece was. Maybe this will help people wake up.
Ha ha! Another cop on fire! Oh Greece, what a delightful war your waging!
I second Dylan’s question. Are the occupiers of the GSEE building members of the union or what? I know it’s not super important, but it would be interesting if they were.

about GSEE, because there is some misunderstanding.
GSEE and ADEDY (ADEDY is for civil servants) are nationwide confederations. There are no other nationwide confederations (KKE’s PAME structure is not a formal federation), so every union, be it trade union, factory/workplace union or whatelse is pretty much a de facto member of GSEE or ADEDY. In Greece there are no different unions like for example in France with GGT, CFDT, FO or others. There’s just GSEE.
It is a tertiary organization, comprised out of its local workers’ centers in every city, each of these centers is made out of the various local branches of the trade unions and the local unions -say a union in a factory- and so on.
Each party, from the right to the far left (trotskyists, maoists etc etc) takes part in the same trade union structures. they do elections, assemblies, voting etc all together.
MIlitant workers (non-aligned) can of course participate too.
Those who occupied the building are “members” of GSEE either they want it or not. I would support the action even if some 12 year olds occupied the building to shit on the floors. Unfortunately this is not the case, and the occupiers are workers.
In the words of the GSEE president (a statement from today)
“GSEE is the collective organizer and leader of the struggles of ALL workers”.
(emphasis in the original ! )
Hope this clarified things a bit.
many other stuff happened but no time.
