On Friday, August 6th, the public prosecutor described his verdict for the case of Epaminondas Korkoneas and Vasilis Saraliotis, the two cops who killed 15-year old Alexandros Grigoropoulos on the night of December 6th, 2008 in Athens. Τhe prosecutor rejected all “mitigating factors” brought forward by the side of the two accused cops. If his recommendation is upheld by the court’s judges, Korkoneas should receive a life sentence.
The trial will recommence on September 2nd. Following the trial procedures in Greece, it is now the turn of the two lawyers (those representing the cops and Alexandros’ family) to make their final speeches before the final verdict is announced - which we expect to happen in the first week of September.

Questions: Should Korkoneas be found guilty, what sort of special conditions would he be held under in prison? What are the chances of an appeal, or early release (Though I’m guessing both are high…)?
it’s most likely he’d be pretty much in isolation, for his own protection, as cops who kill children are considered scum as much in the prison, as outside.
As for an appeal, exactly, that’s where his chances lie, and he has a very, very good chance of getting his sentence slashed then. But let’s see what the original one will be, to begin with…
In greek prisons, cops, people who kill children and these kind of prisoners have a very big chance of being lynched by other prisoners. I consider it sure that he will be held in special conditions.
