This week has already seen an unprecedented wave of strikes planned by transport workers, with so called “work halts” (half day strikes) called for most days of the week and a strike called for the 15th, of course – the day of the General Strike.
However, workers at the city’s buses decided to take things further today when they occupied four of Athens’ seven “Thermal Buses depots” (ETHEL). ETHEL has the largest fleet among the buses in the city and as a result, most bus routes are not operating today.

The drivers will continue their strikes (or work halts) today and on Thursday, but will work on 15th December during the hours that the rest of the workers will be demonstrating in Athens, in order to help the people to participate to the demonstrations of the day.
great move, brothers
Also, except for the strikers, groups of unemployed have called for gatherings and demonstrations on 15th of December. It’s the first time this happens, as the unemployed are not well organized in greece, but now the amount of them has reached historical levels.
