The condition of the 30-year old demonstrator who was attacked by police during the May 11th General Strike demonstration in Athens remains life-threatening. The 30-year old has been placed in a medically induced coma. The next 48 hours will be crucial in determining his fate. He was a member of the Assembly of Resistance and Solidarity of Kipseli and Patisia, in Athens. His block, along with many others, suffered an unprovoked police attack. The beating he received was a lethal one: according to the medical reports, he was hit with an object that was not a police baton; most likely it was a fire extinguisher.
Leftist and anarchist groups have called for a demonstration against state repression for Thursday, May 12th at 6pm, at the Propylea in Athens. The call-out by the leftist groups follows:
