The video below was shot on May 13th at Pedion Tou Areos (Field of Mars) in central Athens. The footage shows the police car no. 175, which carries two neo-nazis who have been detained earlier, during the pogrom against migrants that was ongoing in the city. Approximately 55” into the video, the two neo-nazis are helped out of the car and freed to go. They are quickly replaced with two migrants, who are detained in their place. This, most likely, because the police had already reported arrests to their HQ and needed to even out the arrestee numbers.

How come the migrants don’t seem to react?
What’s the voice saying?
It is not a good idea to react, as beatings are common during searches and arrests, esp. if you are an immigrant. The voice is describing what is happening, wondering loudly whether this friendly exchange is between the police and neo-nazis or not.

It is odd that whenever the political situation in Greece becomes interesting, this website — which I admire because it provides useful information to those not involved directly in Greek struggles — seems to attract all manner of useful idiots.
Really? There was a wave of fascist attacks, just 2-3 blocks away. There is everyday propaganda, from official sources, that the pogroms are simply clashes by “members of the public” and immigrant gangs. There is a video of two people groomed like neonazis, talking idly to the police, then walking away, while two immigrants replace them immediately, for unknown reasons. This is a country where people put up notices in the Internet when someone is taken away by the police like that. If you do not consider this (at least) suspicious, then all the e-political skills in the world won’t make a difference…Useful idiots, indeed.

Any fascist movement is organized by elements of big business working with the state security apparatus. They are doing it because their backs are against the wall, because resistance to austerity has pushed them there. Fascism comes as a response to Left success. It’s why there is no fascist street movement in the U.S., there is no Left or any real resistance.
The more you win, the more they will bring out the savages of society to fight back.
And on another note, forget tourism once word of these pogroms starts to get out. The Greek capitalist economy is doomed.
Regarding tourism: that’s may be why the pogroms got covered by european media. The story was only fitting into more right wing papers with their anti-greeks agenda, most of the “liberal” ignored it so far.
