The two main trade unions in Greece, GSEE and ADEDY, have just announced a fresh General Strike against the new round of austerity cuts. The strike has been scheduled for September 26. It is by now evident that the strikes are called in the eve of the voting of each round of cuts in parliament, apparently in an attempt to diffuse popular anger directed against them; it is therefore most probable that the new round of cuts will be voted in the days immediately after the strike.
The two unions have also called for a strike demonstration that will gather at Pedion tou Areos (Mars’ Fields) at 11 am on the day.
