17:52 Things are calmer in Exarcehia now but there is heavy police presence. Calls for the solidarity demo in police HQ and calls for demo  at 19:00 in Gardenia Square in Zografou district, where in the morning the strike march was banned and attacked by the police.

17:08 Clashes and arrests in Exarcheia. The solidarity demo remains in front of the Police HQ. First unconfirmed information talk about over 100 detains and arrests. Police does not allow lawyers to see the arrested demonstrations. Several people were arrested in Exarcheia where police attacked to people there after the march.

15.25 Unconfirmed reports that the police water canon is now entering Exarcheia via Benaki str. Confirmed that the clashes at Omonoia square continue.

15.07 A few minutes ago, the popular assemblies’ blocks were chased down to Omonoia square; DELTA motorcycle police even entered the metro station and threw stun grenades inside.

14:54 20 people who had been detained in Kalogiron Square earlier were just released.

14:48 The Neighborhood assemblies are calling for new gathering on the University Refectory in order to march anew towards the police headquarters in solidarity to the demonstrators who have been detained. The number of detainees is unknown. Shock grenades around Panepistimiou street. The march continues but it is not possible to march towards the upper part of Syntagma Square so the march continues towards Fillelinon street.  Thousands on Ermou street.

14:43 The march continues. Things seem to calm down around Syntagma now, but the atmosphere is full of police chemical gas.

14:36 Demonstrators responded with molotov cocktails on Stadiou and Karagiorgi Servias  street.

14:34 Police continues the offensive from every side of Syntagma Square, storming the site.

14:32 Mass Police offensive on Amalias street in front of the parliament beating up and pushing demosntrators away from the parliament. Arrests in front of the parliament. people throw stones to defend themselves.

14:30 Mass use of chemicals by the police on Ermou street, demonstrators set fires in order to protect themselves from the chemicals, clashes have not generalized though.  At the same time the march continues, while all streets of central Athens are occupied by strikers. The participants are several hundred of thousands according tot he first estimations from the ground.

14:20 Clashes and Molotov cocktails on Syntagma Square. Tear gas bombs thrown all over demonstrators on Syntagama area.

13:30 Tension in front of the metal fence in the House of Parliament, people are trying to push it away. Small groups of neo-nazis are concentrated around Mitropoleos street.

13:10 A lot of demonstrators are marching behind the banner of municipality workers union, several municipal facilities around the country have been occupied by the municipal workers. Triple police cordon in front of the luxurious hotels in Syntagma. Along Patision and Akadimias streets huge police presence.

13:00 am. The march in Athens has started, the crowd is vast. A water cannon for the first time is parked next to the parliament in Syntagma.

12:30 am The last hour the police attacked to local gatherings of strikers in Athens  (Zografou, Dafni and Pagrati districts) while police officers carry out stop and search operations in the metro stations. In Gardenia Square of Zografou district in Athens 50 strikers gathered and when they tried to march towards the central gathering point in the Archaeological Museum police banned them to do so. Demonstrators chained up and refused to move police attacked them and detained more than 25 people.

10.30 am The strike gatherings in Athens are called for 10.30 am around the Museum area on Patision Ave; the strike demonstration will start soon therafter.

Sep 26 As announced, much of the public transportation in Athens is running partially today, even though the metro stations in Syntagma and Panepistimio will be closed following police orders.
