Local Golden Dawn office in Ierapetra, Crete shuts down after murder of Pavlos Fyssas

It is reported in media that Golden Dawn has retreated from Ierapetra, Crete following the assassination of Pavlos Fyssas by GD member, Giorgos Roupakias. The GD members decided to leave their office, taking even its exterior signs.

According to blog Cretalive, “the presence of the office of GD, in one of the most central parts of town, on Koraka street, was often a source of tension – mostly when anti-fascist events were taking place. The murder of Pavlos Fyssas, however, acted as a catalyst for the developments, which is something the members of the party may have seen themselves”.

The Ierapetra office, according to the same source, was active since November 2011, on 52, Koraka street, on the 3d floor. All equipment, from desks to phones and computers, has been transferred to the party’s office in Heraclion, in Nea Alikarnassos.
